Giorgia Cecchinato

Giorgia Cecchinato is currently Professor of Aesthetics and modern Philosophy at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). She graduated at the University of Padua (2001) and earned her PhD in Philosophy from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (2009). She has been in charge of research and teaching activities both in Munich (2007-2008) and in Padova (2008-2009). She has been granted a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to work at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (2008-2009). Her area of specialization is history of philosophy of the 18th century, including Kant, German Idealism, and the moral and aesthetic implications of the 18th century philosophy. She co-organized the IV Kant Multilateral Colloquium, held in Tiradentes (Brazil) and co-edited the book Kant and the metaphors of reason (Olms, 2015). She is author, inter alia, of Das Problem einer Ästhetik bei Fichte, Würzburg, 2009, and of several articles on issues relating to German Idealism.
